Comprehensive Eye Exams
We understand that every person eyes and vision needs are completely unique. Therefore we will customize your appointment to suit you individual needs. We have state of the art optical equipment and our friendly consulting team will provide you with a warm and pleasant experience throughout.
Firstly, we will ask you a few questions about your eyes and any problems you may be having with them. We willl also ask you a few questions regarding your medical history and family eye health history. Your work and leisure activities are also useful to know in order to get a full view of your eye health and to tailor the following exam to suit your needs
Next, your vision is assessed and an external eye health test will be completed. This measures the spectacle lens strength that will give the best vision possible for you. Your binocular vision is also assessed, this is how your eyes work ‘together’. In this part of the exam we also examine your eyelids, tear production and corneal health in order to screen for any potential problems you may have with your eyesight in the future.
Following this, we will examine your internal eye health. The eye is examined from the lids and lashes to the cornea and further back to the anterior chamber of the eye, the lens and the posterior chamber and lastly the retina. The retinal examination includes, an examination of the optic nerve head, macula, retinal blood vessels and the peripheral retina.
Occasionally, it may be necessary to use drops to dilate (enlarge) the pupil in order to get a better view of the eye.
IOP- Intra-ocular pressure is measured using a Tonometer – ‘puff of air’ to measure the eye pressure. This is one of the tests to check for Glaucoma.
Visual field examination is also available and carried out as appropriate.
Each exam is tailor to suit you and your needs and we will adjust our emphasis depending on any eye problems you may be experiencing
